"We all evolve. Some of us just evolve at different times."
We live in a convoluted world, where those simple things which we have long taken advantage of: speech, thought, ranks, duties, are no more than dreams in the minds of the most evolved members of our society. We are the creatures of habit: we follow our elders, breed to our strongest, raise our offspring, and move with the seasons... but upon our most recent migration, we stumbled upon the path to enlightenment: it lurks beyond the southern forest, near the boundaries which have been set for we simple creatures. These "stepping stones" are called 'Crystals,' and it is spoken that these crystals, when collected, lend skills and abilities which we do not yet possess. But there are so many things which we need to accomplish to simply collect these crystals - things which we do only naturally, but when the natural is rounded back upon itself, unnatural things begin to happen.
But we have only just begun; the Crystals remain untouched, the Quests for our kind go unanswered, and the lands are empty - empty, for our recent discovery frightened many from the lands which we have always called our own... but there are horses returning, simple creatures like ourselves, who come seeking the wisdom and enlightenment which have been denied us for so long. They say that beyond the boundary we have always known, there are richer lands and a greater knowledge which we can possess, if only we work for it. We are frightened: this is our way - we shy from the strange and unknown: this is what has kept us alive for so long. But if there is more out there, more than eating, breathing, and breeding, we would be glad to know of it. If there is more out there, is it not ours for the taking?
The time has come. We are ready for our Evolution.
